Families of Veterans

Families of Veterans

Coffs Coast Legacy provides support to the partners, children and families of veterans who have sustained a serious service related illness or injury which impacts on their ability to support the family. This includes those families living with Post Traumatic Stress.

Our primary focus is on the unmet needs of the partners and children of incapacitated veterans, rather than on those of the veteran themselves.

Our programs work collaboratively with other agencies and services to obtain the best possible outcomes for the family in need.

Special Needs Dependants

Coffs Coast Legacy believes that people with disabilities have an inherent right to life on an equal basis with others and is proud of its commitment to those dependants with disabilities. While most primary care is delivered by specialist service providers, Legacy takes a personal and long-term interest in the welfare of dependants and their families, acting as an honest and reliable friend and advocate.

Legacy also assists with opportunities to promote a healthy lifestyle, reduce social isolation, and provides respite for parents and carers. Coffs Coast Legacy can provide financial assistance to help people with disabilities achieve their goals.

Widows of Veterans

Coffs Coast Legacy provides comfort and security to those who find themselves alone and vulnerable. Regular contact is made either by phone or home visit to all of our Legacy beneficiaries to help ensure that all of their needs, whether physical or emotional, are being met. Legacy is committed to ensuring no widow or widower of a deceased veteran will ever face life’s challenges alone by providing;

  • Information and referrals to local support services enabling the aged to remain at home with dignity
  • Combatting Social Isolation through our Social Clubs and activities
  • Relief from financial hardship
  • Assistance with transitioning to residential care
  • Regular Newsletters

We can provide grief support at the time of your loss and advocate on your behalf for any pension entitlements. Coffs Coast Legacy can facilitate the provision of the full range of government and non-government support, counselling, financial assistance and other programs.
